Junior Leaders
Following on from our successful cultural enrichment camp programs Binambi Barambah Aboriginal Corporation Ltd has expanded into the area of junior leadership training. Binambi Barambah founder and champion, Aunty Ruth Hegarty, recognised the importance of incorporating leadership qualities in the camp program with the introduction of junior leaders at every camp.
Young people aged between 14 and 16 are given a position of responsibility at camp being nominated as the junior leader to a group of younger children. Their role during the 5 day camp program is to ensure their group is dressed ready to face the day, participating in all events and chaperoning them between activities.
To assist these young people develop into their roles and responsibilities, Binambi with the support of corporate funding from PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS is now able to provide specialist junior leadership training through the establishment of the Binambi Junior Leadership Program.
The young people are provided with an opportunity to operate in a different setting and to focus on their own needs and aspirations to build, strengthen and establish mentors for their journey of life.
